The story below talks about Nevan Lee's perseverance through financial hardship:
For some, the thought of money may not necessarily be the biggest priority in life. In Nevan's case, he didn’t think too much about the cost of school supplies or new baseball equipment; he lived a comfortable life. Although, that changed when his brother was diagnosed with a condition which led to financial hardships. The cost of treatment for his brother's condition took a toll on their family’s financial status. However, Nevan didn’t let his financial hardships get in the way of his success. During remote learning he used his phone as his computer didn’t have a webcam, making sure to keep both on when in class. In addition, he is searching for jobs to help support his family, and is currently day trading in stocks. Though the pandemic has put a strain on Nevan's family, he is working hard and preserving through these challenges.
Nevan’s word of advice is, “to not lose faith, always believe in yourself, and do not hesitate to ask for help. Don’t be embarrassed.”
Nevan Lee, is a rising junior at Lowell High School. He's lived in San Francisco his entire life and he would not choose to move anywhere else. He is a left-handed pitcher and first baseman for the Lowell Cardinals Varsity Baseball team. Other than playing baseball, he enjoys working out and playing the guitar in his free time.
